If you are white in Ghana you are given the keys to the city. I drank fine malt whiskey with the King of the Volta Region, I was ushered straight past the throngs of Ghanians at the airport without so much as a brief glance at my passport and I was allowed to perform the first incision on a patient during a hernia operation.
